Children take a combination of classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz technique and Acro Dance with the option of attending Street Dance, Contemporary and Musical Theatre in addition to their core classes.

 

Ballet - A repetoire of steps is built upon in Ballet classes, using the French terminology and learning how to execute technical ballet steps. Repetoire is taught to inspire and learn about professional ballets and to develop performance and character skills.  Children begin their pre-pointe training ensuring they are both strong enough and mature enough for the dmeands of pointe shoes. 

 

Tap - Clarity of beats and rhythm is further developed in weekly Tap classes.

 

Jazz technique - Children continue to master techniques such as pirouettes, kicks, leaps and turns.  Choreography is taught to enable children to pick up routines quickly and develop further performance skills.

 

Acro - More advanced Acro and tumbling tricks are taught to challenge the children further and build on their strength, balance and flexibiity skills.

Contemporary & Lyrical - Contemporary & lyrical dance are expressive styles of dance that helps the students to connect emotions with dance steps, resulting in a more connected and emotional performance.  Both are important dance styles in today's professional industry.

 

Children have the opportunity to take ISTD exams in Ballet, Modern and Tap.
